Sunday, September 11, 1999

Can you believe it? I'm back already.

I just thought I'd take a moment to rejoice with you, my fellow nitpickers over our incredible fortune this week that we actually survived one of the "Impending-Dates-O-Doom" (Otherwise known as IDOD).

I am of course, referring to the fact that we made it through September 9, 1999 without the world coming to an end. You, no doubt, had heard that 9/9/99 was a date that would live in infamy with its rampant meltdown of everything we love and hold dear.

Thankfully, the nuclear waste dump on the dark side of the moon continues to function normally . . . .

To what do I refer, you ask? ;-) Tom Elmore sent me the following email this week. I chuckled.

"Here is something you might want to share with all nitpickers. September 9, 1999 is day a nuclear waste dump on the dark side of the mooon is going to explode and send the moon and the residents of Moon Base Alpha hurling into space, or at least that is what the 1970's British Sci-Fi series Space 1999 claims (Remember it? It starred Martin Landu and has been seen on the Sci Fi Channel)"

So, take heart, my friends. We may yet survive our future! ;-)
