THE NUMBER 47: A CASE STUDY IN OBSESSION
As I understand it, Joe Menosky--one of the Star Trek series writers--loves the number 47 and works it into his scripts every chance he gets. Apparently, the craze caught on because 47 in some form or another started popping up all over NextGen and then DS9 and now Voyager. Michaela Schlocker of Stanford University has been collecting these. For a time, I maintained a list of 47s here at Nitpicker Central but Michaela has her own home page and it maintaining her own list so I'll just hand you off to her!
