THIS WEEK AT NITCENTRAL

Sunday, October 11, 1998

Just got back from vacation and noticed that I really needed to start a topic for "Shadows and Symbols" on the new discussion board: www.nitcentral.com/discus. Sorry I didn't get that started before I left.

Again--in regard to the discussion board--that *none* of the boards with the exception of DS9 are open at the moment. They will be in the future after I tweek them a bit.

Forgot to apologize for something else yesterday! As many of you know I sent out notification about the lack of an October 1998 Nitpickers Guild newsletter before I left on vacation. As many of you also know, for some reason, Pegasus decided to send three copies of the email to everyone. Sorry about that! As far as I can recall, I did everything the same as usual but I am working with a new version of Pegasus and evidently it either has a bug in its distribution list stuff or there's some new feature that I have to disable in order for it to work as it always has in the past! Ain't computers grand?

Well, rats! I missed the premiere for Voyager! Arrgh! Ah well. I'll try to catch it on Saturday. I did open up the discussion board (www.nitcentral.com/discus) for the fifth season of Voyager, however, so you're welcome to have at it, fellow nitpickers!

Something new! As I said in my regrets for not being able to put out  an October newsletter, I still haven't gotten approval on that 36-hour day. But . . . I am embarking on something that looks to be even better! Now that there's really no signficant money involved with this website since I'm not doing Nitpicker's Guides anymore . . . I TAKING VOLUNTEERS! Yeah!

And the first is fellow nitpicker Amos Painter. A few days ago, he asked if I would start a topic on the discussion board (www.nitcentral.com/discus) for Earth: Final Conflict. Acclimating myself to my new mode of thinking I responded, "You wanna moderate it?" Happily, Amos agreed and in short order I had him installed as the official moderator for the all-new, chrome-dipped, high-sheen Earth: Final Conflict section of NitCentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections.

In fact, Amos already has all the episode titles loaded for the first season and four for the second season so he's off to a flying start. If you're a fan of Roddenberry's posthumus creation, drop by and leave a few comments (And while you're at it, drop Amos a line to say welcome. You can reach him at apainter@nitcentral.com. See, mugsy, that's the way it works. You moderate a board. You get a free email forwarding account. Hint, hint. ;-)

Oh and on a less accelerated note, I had intended to begin a new topic tonight on the discussion board called "The Kitchen Sink" as a replacement for my Ask The Chief column. I shall have to attend to that on Saturday. This day has flown.

Finally, in recent weeks, I have had several nitpickers volunteer to help and I've tried to keep track of those kind offers and I should be contacting you on Saturday to see what you like to do. But, um, with all the hustle and bustle, I am afeared that some of the messages might have fallen through the cracks. So, if you did volunteer to help and you don't hear from me by Monday, please, please write again! (I do apologize for the brain cramp.)

United We Nitpick!
