As I was writing the first Nitpicker's Guide--The Nitpicker's Guide for Next Generation Trekkers--I realized that there was no way one individual could ever catch all the mistakes in even one episode of one television series. There's too much to watch for, too much to think about. From the beginning, I knew that I'd hadn't found everything there was to find in the first six seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. So, I decided it might be fun to get some help. I had a blast doing the first book and I wondered if anyone else would like to join the fun. That's when I came up with the Nitpicker's Guild.
The Nitpickers Guild--as the name implies--is made up of nitpickers. It is a group of like-minded individuals, young and old, professional and lay, male and female, who enjoy having a little fun with their favorite television shows. It is not a dogmatic organization. As Chief Nitpicker, I do not require anyone to agree with my viewpoints before joining the Guild. In fact, many nitpickers have gained entrance to the Guild by disagreeing with the nits I've picked in the Nitpicker's Guides. In the Guild, everyone's opinion is important and respected. After all, it's not like we're struggling with some great conundrum of existance like how to bring about world peace. We're discussing television here! If someone disagrees with my viewpoint, it's not the end of the existence as we know it! If you would like to Join the Guild, I have only one simple requirement: Send me a nit. Show me that you are enough of a nitpicker to find your own mistakes in a television show. The only thing I ask in return is that you understand that if you send me a nit, it's mine to do with as I choose. If you are the first person to send in a given nit, I will do my best to give you credit. However, I can't guarentee that. I am human and I do make mistakes!
