THIS WEEK AT NITCENTRAL

Sunday, April 26, 1998

Still puttering along on the Star Wars novels, writing plots summaries as I go! Got through five last week. This week I hope to get through The Jedi Academy Trilogy and the first two books of the Callista Triology.

Last week, I mentioned that I had entered the Drew Carey Show April Fools Contest. The answers were supposed to be released this week but the creators changed their minds. Unfortunately, while doing some subsequent research a few days ago, I discover that--with a high degree of certainty--I missed at least two of the items on the Official Producers List. Arrgh! Couldah had them. I just goofed! I would imagine this effectively puts me out of the running for any prize. (With 300,000 entries, one cannot afford this kind of mistake. Too many smart people out there.) As penance for my stupidity, I decided to document the process. And . . . since the creators have decided to dribble out the items on their Official Producers List (one a day until the winners are announced on May 20), I'll update it as we go--confirming the ones I got, wailing over those I missed). For your viewing pleasure, then, I present my entry for the Drew Carey April Fools Contest.. (By the way, as you peruse the file, you may notice that I already have a gaff listed that won't be confirmed by the Official Drew Carey Show Website until tomorrow. I'm not psychic. The maintainers of the website evidently set up some kind of batch processing file to handle the updates for the weekend and a bit of simple dorking around netted me the "revelation" not only for yesterday, but for today and tomorrow as well! It will save me from having to update the file tomorrow.)

And, yet another reminder. Robert Pearlman of the National Space Society contacted me two weeks ago. The NSS, in cooperation with HBO, has created the Official Viewer's Guide to "From The Earth To The Moon" (E2M) [http://www.nss.org/apollo] -- the new epic miniseries covering America's quest for the Moon. Robert was interested in creating a Nitpicker's Guide for the series as well! He has access to astronauts, NASA techs, and historians (and he's already amassed quite a few nits from them) but he was also interested in hearing from you all as to your thoughts on the HBO mini series that is currently playing. I started a Brash Reflection file on From Earth To The Moon and you're welcome to send along additional comments.

Uploaded more nits and reflections for Vis A Vis, The Omega Particle, Unforgettable and From Earth To The Moon. (All three Voyger episodes are now frozen! We've done all we can on them.)

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: The Brash Reflections for the third season of Voyager are officially frozen. However, you may feel free to send in additional nits for the episodes. I will keep the information for future reference and possible inclusion in a Voyager Nitpicker's Guide. Also frozen are Trials and Tribble-ations, along with all movie files. Also, aside from "Trials and Tribble-ations"--which was a special case, there aren't any Brash Reflections for DS9 on the website. Sorry. Just don't have the time to do another series and I started with Voyager when I started the homepage.

Updated My Entry for the Drew Carey April Fools Contest.

Wednesday, April 29, 1998

Okay, now this is getting embarrassing (but hilariously funny)! Not only did I discover yesterday that I missed a gaff that I should have gotten, I learned today that I missed a blatantly obvious mistake! Maybe it's time to start taking applications for a new Chief Nitpicker for the Nitpickers Guild! ;-) Read all about it here: My Entry for the Drew Carey April Fools Contest.

Uploaded a Brash Reflection for Living Witness. (Last week I uploaded a Brash Reflection for Unforgettable.)

Thursday, April 30, 1998

Updated My Entry for the Drew Carey April Fools Contest. I'm still far behind on my postal mail so the membership files update will have to wait!

Friday, May 1, 1998

Uploaded a new Ask the Chief column (Click here for last week's column.) Also, I updated My Entry for the Drew Carey April Fools Contest.

Oh, and a thousand apologies, when I uploaded a Brash Reflection for Living Witness on Wednesday, I neglected to delete the "frozen" notice at the bottom of the file. The file on "Living Witness" is NOT frozen yet!

Saturday, May 2, 1998

Same song as last week. Official Gaffs that the Creators will reveal in the coming days revealed, RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW! It's amazing! See the latest update of my Drew Carey April Fools Contest Entry.)
